Biden Ridiculed for Reading ‘Dot’ Off Teleprompter During Speech

For the third time in as many months, President Joe Biden showed himself to be tied to the teleprompter, spelling out the word “dot” in referencing a URL on the Federal Trade Commission webpage.

In making his statement about his student loan forgiveness program, Biden said:

“If you get any questionable calls, please tell us by going to report fraud … report fraud, D-O-T, F-T-C, dot gov,” Biden said, attempting to direct the public to reportfraud.ftc.gov.

The mangling of the basic tech phrase was fuel for critics who mocked the president across social media channels — many comparing him to the iconic newscaster, Ron Burgundy, played by comedian Will Farrell.

Outkick founder Clay Travis posted: “Joe Biden spelled out D-O-T that’s the . in an email address today. He really is Ron Burgandy [sic].”

Biden’s cognitive ability has been called into question by the former White House chief medical officer and current representative, Dr. Ronny Jackson.

Surveys show that “seventy-six percent of the more than 2,200 people surveyed in early September felt that Biden, 79, was ‘too old’ to serve in public office,” and Biden has not waffled on whether he will run in 2024.

In early October, Al Sharpton told NBC news that Biden disclosed to him that he would run in the next presidential election.

Conservative comedian Tim Young roasted the latest gaffe, saying: “Biden is so gone that he will literally read ANY WORDS they put on the teleprompter in front of him.”

The Republican National Committee also teased the president. RNC Research Rapid Response Director Tommy Pigott posted:

“Can’t make this up. They put the word ‘dot’ in the teleprompter and he literally got so confused he spelt it out instead of just saying ‘dot.’”

According to the New York Post, the “DOT” blunder is the latest “in a series of confounding statements.”

The Post noted the following:

  • “The President brushed off $7-a-gallon gas in California last week, arguing “that’s always been the case” and confusingly linking the price of gasoline to housing while getting takeout at a Los Angeles taco shop.
  • Without elaboration, Biden said that “housing” was “the most important thing” for gas prices.
  • The President also said in a speech last week that he agrees with “whatever” Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) says, lauding a congresswoman with a history of inflammatory remarks.
  • Biden also incorrectly stated last week that his son Beau “lost his life in Iraq” when he actually died of cancer in Maryland, and that he visited the Rio Grande to see the need for land preservation, possibly confusing it with the Grand Canyon.
  • A day earlier, Biden claimed that firefighters nearly died extinguishing a 2004 fire at his Wilmington, Del., house — a blaze which the local fire department said it considered “insignificant” and was put out in 20 minutes.”
