Actor Jim Caviezel has revealed shocking details about his experience filming The Passion of the Christ, in which he portrayed Jesus Christ. In a recent speech at First Baptist Church in Orlando, he stated that director Mel Gibson had warned him early on that the role could jeopardize his entire Hollywood career.

Before The Passion of the Christ, Caviezel had a successful career with roles in popular films like The Count of Monte Cristo, Angel Eyes, and others. But after the film, he claims he was “erased” from the industry. The role that brought him worldwide fame also shut many doors for his future in Hollywood.

“We must be willing to sacrifice everything — our names, reputations, even careers — if we want to speak the truth,” he added.

📽️ A Sequel to The Passion of the Christ?

Despite the fallout, Caviezel is set to reprise his role as Jesus in the highly anticipated sequel, The Resurrection, which Mel Gibson is currently working on. The film is expected to be released in 2026.

The Passion of the Christ earned over $600 million worldwide but was also surrounded by controversy, including accusations of antisemitism and extreme violence.
