According to The View, during the recent Georgia Senate race debate between former professional athlete Hershel Walker (R) and incumbent Raphael Warnock (D), “Walker over-preformed” and Warnock “under-performed.”

In a rare nod to a Republican candidate, The View co-host Sunny Hostin noted that she and her father watched the debate and walked away impressed with the underdog candidate.

The one and only debate between Walker and Warnock took place in Savannah on Friday. Walker repeatedly painted Warnock as a rubber stamper of President Joe Biden’s unpopular initiatives. Warnock attempted to depict Walker as a liar who is embroiled in legal challenges.

Following the debate, many political pundits lauded Walker’s performance.

Sunny Hostin seemed to agree, saying to her co-hosts on The View:

“ He did so much better than I thought he did that I think he gave votes. And I’m not talking about Warnock, I’m talking about Walker…”

Hostin added:

I mean, my father said, ‘Maybe he doesn’t have CTE [Chronic traumatic encephalopathy].’ That was one of the first things that my father thought and listening to the way he was able to discuss issues … it felt that way. I mean, we watched it and left thinking Warnock underperformed and that Walker overperformed.”

Haines questioned Hostin: “My guess is that you had some pretty low standards for him.”

Hostin replied: “We did, but I still have to say that trying to tie Warnock to Biden’s low approval was pretty smart. He looked like he had been prepped really well and ultimately we’ve got all of these voting restrictions in Georgia. It’s going to make it very difficult for people to vote.”

Co-host Ana Navarro criticized Walker’s performance at the debate, first pointing to his communication style:

“He didn’t have a coherent thought; he couldn’t complete his sentences…”

Navarro followed up with, “And he was lying again.”

Hostin acknowledged that in the matter of a woman who charged that Walker paid for her to have an abortion in 2009, “Walker did lie.”

Walker admitted to knowing the woman and providing a check to her in an interview with NBC News chief White House correspondent Kristen Welker.

The Georgia Senate race could determine which Party has control of the upper chamber. As of 10/13, FiveThirtyEight polling puts Warnock almost 4 points ahead.
